Basin wall

Boundary with self-supporting stability

The stainless steel pool wall is self-supporting up to a water depth of 2.2 metres.

The loads occurring at the top end (pool head) of the indoor pool are transferred to the pool perimeter slab, while in the outdoor pool they are transferred to the surrounding strip foundation. At the base of the pool wall, the loads are transferred to the strip foundation in both cases.

When renovating tiled sports pools, the tiles are usually broken off at the end walls up to the standing steps in order to comply with the specified competition dimensions. This makes room for the 50 mm thick stainless steel construction. The pool width is usually reduced by a total of 100 mm on the long walls.

For diving pools, the strip foundations extend to a water depth of 2.2 metres. These are lined with stainless steel sheets. If the diving pit protrudes into the groundwater, a concrete basin must be constructed to keep the groundwater out.
